Five people, including a 12-year-old child, were reportedly killed while around a dozen were left injured in a road accident on the Patiala-Devigarh road during the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Karanjot Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sonu, Nikka and Rahul. The injured were rushed to Government Rajindra Hospital, while two critical patients were further referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The police said the accident took place near Jagatpura village around 3 am when an SUV collided with a tractor-trailer laden with people.
Sources said over two dozen people in the tractor-trailer were coming back from Haryana after attending a religious event. Of the five killed, two were car occupants and three were on the tractor-trailer.
