Ferozepur/Faridkot, April 18
In yet another recovery, eight mobile phones were recovered from the Central Jail Ferozepur, bringing the total seizure in past five days to 19.
Jail Superintendent Parvinder Singh said during checking of barracks, four mobile phones were recovered from inmates Kulwinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Gurpiyar Singh, Swaranjit Singh, while one was found during checking of block No. 3.
“Three more mobile phones (and a charger) along with six packets of tobacco, 20 cigarettes, one packet of ‘beeri’ and 162 gm tobacco were recovered from three packets tossed from outside the jail by an unidentified person,” he said.
In Faridkot, the police have booked as many as eight persons, including two inmates, for alleged attempt to smuggle narcotics and mobile accessories into the jail.
The jail authorities claimed they had rounded up three suspects who were moving around the jail premise. On search of the suspects, they found several controlled substances, including mobile phone accessories. —
