Faridkot, December 5
The Vigilance Department on Sunday arrested an Assistant Transport Officer (ATO) and a Junior Assistant (JA) for issuing fake driving licences and vehicle registration certificates (RCs).
Causing about Rs 18 lakh revenue loss to the government, these licences and RCs were issued by accused ATO Gurnam Singh and JA Amritpal Singh between 2018 and 2019 during their posting at the Regional Transport Office.
A probe against the accused, both suspended, was pending since June 2019. Today, the department summoned the accused to record their statement and arrestem them on the basis of its finding, which prima facie found them guilty, said Raj Kumar, DSP (Vigilance). — TNS
