Sangrur, February 16
Two waiters died during the past 24 hours in Sunam after allegedly consuming spirit they had stolen from a wedding ceremony while another one is stated to be out of danger.
As per information, three persons, who worked as waiters, allegedly stole a bottle of spirit during a marriage in Jakhepal village.
“The waiters consumed it on Sunday leading to the death of Karm Singh and Kesar Singh last night. But neither their families nor their friends informed us and cremated both bodies in the morning. After getting information, we reached their colony but they are not willing to share any information,” said Manjit Kaur, Subdivisional Magistrate, Sunam. “It’s not a case of spurious liquor as the two died after consuming spirit. Further investigations are on,” said Vivek Sheel Soni, SSP, Sangrur. — TNS
