Ferozepur, April 5
The police booked two officials of the Special Task Force (STF), Ferozepur unit, including its in charge, for allegedly manhandling an accused.
Complainant Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Rau ke Hithar village in the Mamdot block was booked under the NDPS Act and Arms Act on August 3 last year. The accused was evading the police till now. On March 22, the accused appeared before STF in charge Jaswinder Singh, and produced his interim bail papers which he had brought from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. As per the complainant, Inspector Jaswinder Singh along with ASI Harjit Singh and other unidentified persons allegedly assaulted him and kept him in police custody. Lovepreet also alleged the STF officials forced him to give a witness against some people. A case under Sections 325, 326 and 34 of the IPC was registered against the officials at the Cantonment police station. — OC
