Ludhiana, July 18
After a gap of two years (Covid pandemic), the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is gearing up to hold offline kisan melas in the state.
Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, said the first kisan mela would be held at Nag Kalan Jahangir in Amritsar on September 2, followed by Ballowal Saunkhri on September 6, Gurdaspur on September 9, Faridkot on September 13 and Rauni (Patiala) on September 16. The two-day kisan mela on the PAU campus would be organised from September 23-24 and the last mela would be held in Bathinda on September 29, he said.
“Farmers will be provided with a platform to see live demonstrations, interact with scientists, participate in crop produce and community science competitions, quality seed and planting material under one roof,” he said.
During the pandemic, the PAU had organised virtual kisan melas and provided the latest information and farm inputs on the farmers’ doorsteps, he added.
