A 20-year-old Sikh preacher (granthi) allegedly committed suicide at Daidhar village in this district, the police officials said here on Tuesday.
Manpreet Singh originally hailed from Daidhar Sharki village.
According to police, he hanged himself from an electricity pole attached to the main gate of a local dera of Satsang Beas sect located on the Lopon Road at Daudhar village.
According to locals, he was allegedly upset over some family dispute over the past few months.
The body was sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. Later, it was handed over to his family for cremation.
The police have initiated investigation under Section 174 of the CrPC.
