Four robbers allegedly decamped with around 3-kg gold and Rs 8 lakh from the house of a jeweller at gunpoint in Kiratpur Sahib on Sunday. The victim, Rajinder Kumar, said his son Ankit Soni was injured in the incident.
On Sunday night, when Kumar was outside, four masked persons entered his house and attacked Ankit, his wife Nancy and their two daughters.
DSP Raminder Singh Kahlon said the robbers, hit Soni with a sharp-edged weapon and Soni too opened fire on them from his revolver but the three fled while one of them fell unconscious on hitting a door and was declared brought dead after being taken to a hospital, said Kahlon.
The deceased accused has been identified as Raj Kumar of Himachal Pradesh. — TNS
