A couple allegedly committed suicide along with their son by jumping into a canal at Thoothianwali village in the district. The deceased have been identified as Suresh Kumar (36), his wife Kajal Rani (34) and son Harsh Kumar (10). They were residents of Thoothianwali village.
The family also wrote a suicide note, which is with the police. A police official at the Sadar Mansa police station said two bodies had been recovered and a search for the third was on.
According to the police, the bodies of Harsh Kumar and Kajal Rani were recovered from the canal with the help of villagers, while Suresh Kumar’s body could not be retrieved.
It is learnt that Suresh Kumar had borrowed Rs 10,000 from a man in Mansa and had given a blank cheque at the time of taking the loan, but the man wrote Rs 4 lakh on the cheque and submitted it in the bank and later filed a case in the court against Suresh.
As a result, Suresh Kumar’s entire family reportedly ended their lives. The police are investigating the matter.
