Ferozepur: After a 27-year-old sarpanch affiliated with the Congress allegedly died by suicide due to repeated harassment over dowry, the police have booked four persons, including her husband. The deceased has been identified as Kajal, who allegedly consumed poison in Guruharsahai. OC

Abohar: A convict who recently came out of jail in a drug peddling case was nabbed again with 90 gm of heroin by Sriganganagar police on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Babu Khan, a resident of Chak 15-HMH. OC

Berms of 2,500 km link roads re-constructed

Chandigarh: The Punjab Mandi Board, with the cooperation of farmers and district administrations, has launched a drive for the re-construction of berms (kutcha path) of rural link roads across the state. So far, around 2,500 km of link roads have been covered under the drive. Missing road berms become the cause of several accidents, besides causing major damage to newly carpeted roads. TNS

Bus overturns, 15 BJP workers hurt

Muktsar: Around 15 persons suffered injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned near Ennakhera village on Sunday. The bus was ferrying BJP activists back to Bhangchari village who had gone to attend a party programme in Malout. Former minister Gurmit Singh Sodhi was the main speaker at the event.
