4 killed, 3 injured in road accidents

Sangrur, July 8

Four persons were killed in two road accidents in Sangrur district during last 24 hours. A woman and her son died after accident near Ghabdan while a man and wife died in another mishap at Dirba in district.

Last evening, Harvinder Singh, along with his mother Ram Piari, daughter Nitika Wadhawa, wife Seem and another relative Reena, was going to Samana in his Swift car. When they reached near Ghabdan, a Thar coming from the opposite direction hit their vehicle. Harvinder was declared brought dead at the Sangrur Civil Hospital while his mother Ram Piari also succumbed to injuries after sometime. The remaining three victims were referred to the DMCH, Ludhiana.

“Woman and her son died while three others have been injured in the accident,” said Parteek Jindal, SHO, Sangrur Sadar police station.

The Sangrur AAP MLA, Narinder Kaur Bharaj, who was going to her village with her family, got the injured shifted to the Civil Hospital and made other necessary arrangements for their treatment.

In another accident, Malkiat Singh and his wife Rani Kaur were hit by a speeding car near Dirba on the Sangrur-Patran road in the morning. “Both died on the spot. We are conducting further investigation,” said Gurpartap Singh, SHO, Dirba police station.
