Patiala, July 21
Four members of a family were killed at Patran on Thursday morning when the roof of their house collapsed.
They have been identified as Raju, wife Sunita, son Aman and daughter Usha. Vikas, their other son, got away with a head injury.
Police said the incident took place at Dhanak Basti on Jakhal Road where the family of five had been living on rent for the past 10 months.
Patran SHO Prakash Masih said the five were sleeping when the back wall of the house gave away at around 6am. Following this, the roof of the house fell on them and they were buried underneath.
He said, “Raju, wife Sunita, who belong to Haryana and did labour work at Patran, along with children Aman and Usha, were killed while their 15-year-old son Vikas suffered a head injury and was taken to the civil hospital at Patran.”
The SHO said the area had witnessed heavy rain at night that probably led to the wall-collapse.
He said the police had sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC.
