Sangrur, June 28
With the arrest of seven persons and seizure of 600-kg poppy husk, the Crime Investigations Agency (CIA), Sangrur, claimed to have busted a gang involved in smuggling of drugs in the area. The CIA has started raids to arrest the remaining five accused.
Sangrur SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said the CIA team had arrested seven persons between Lehal Kalan and Lehal Khurd on Monday and seized 600-kg poppy husk from a truck. “They were involved in smuggling of poppy husk from other states and selling it in Sangrur and nearby cities,” said the SSP.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh, Hari Singh, Gurcharn Singh, Buta Singh, Jarnail Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Krishan Kumar. — TNS
