Faridkot, September 20
Over seven months after booking the brother-in-law of Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Raja Warring in an abetment to suicide case, the Faridkot police have filed a cancellation report in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court here.
After receiving the cancellation report, the court has summoned the complainant, Ankit Kataria, brother of deceased Karan Kataria.
On February 6, 35-year-old private contractor Karan had allegedly killed his two children and injured his wife before shooting himself at Narain Nagar here.
On a complaint by Ankit, the Faridkot police booked Warring’s brother-in-law Amit, alias Dampi Vinayak, under Section 306, IPC. While registering the FIR, the police had mainly relied upon a five-page suicide note left by Karan.
Ankit alleged that his brother had some lifting contracts in Gidderbaha and Vinayak was interfering in the work due to Warring’s influence.
Ankit said Vinayak was demanding money from his brother, which he had already paid to the accused. “After extorting Rs 1.22 crore from my brother last season, Vinayak was demanding more money in lieu of contract works of PSPCL,” Ankit had alleged.
“Two days before his death, my brother had approached Vinayak, demanding that he return some money out of the Rs 1.22 crore, which he refused and told Karan to commit suicide,” he said in the FIR. — TNS
