7 youth from Mohali drown in Gobind Sagar lake in Una

Seven youth belonging to Banur in SAS Nagar district of Punjab drowned in the Gobind Sagar lake on the Sutlej river in Androuli village today. As per information, the victims, all males, were aged between 16 and 18 years, while one of them was about 30 years old.
They were part of a 11-member group, which had come to the lake. Later, they decided to take a swim. It is learnt that the incident took place at about 3.40 pm when one of the swimmers began to drown and the others tried to save him. Four swimmers managed to return back to the bank. The details of those drowned are being confirmed.
Bangana Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Yog Raj Dhiman confirmed that seven persons had drowned. He said divers from the BBMB have been requisitioned to fish out the bodies.
