Labourer held for ‘killing’ wife

Nangal: A migrant labourer was arrested after he killed his wife in Nangran village here. The accused has been identified Raisal of Bihar. According to the police, Raisal, who worked at a stone crusher, thrashed his wife Reema (28) at home. Reema was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. TNS

Shahi Imam passes away at 63

Ludhiana: Shahi Imam Punjab, Hazrat Maulana Habib Ur Rehman Sa-ani Ludhianvi (63), passed away at a private hospital in Ludhiana on Thursday night after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons. He was laid to rest beside the grave of his father. CM Capt Amarinder Singh mourned the demise. TNS

‘Harassed’, man ends life

Sangrur: A man allegedly died by suicide at the house of his in-laws. The police have registered a case and started investigation. Sharing details, Inquiry Officer Badal Singh said the deceased, Maghar Singh, was married to Manpreet Kaur of Ghabdan on June 23. “The family of the deceased has alleged he was facing harassment from his wife and in-laws,” he said. Chandigarh: The Punjab Police on Thursday began the recruitment process for hiring 2,631 domain experts in the rank of sub-inspector and constable. The last date for filing applications is September 29. The recruitment will be made under the technical and support service cadres. TNS
