Ropar Congress leaders seek ticket for local

Ropar, September 17

Congress leaders from the Ropar Assembly constituency have once again reiterated that the party ticket must be given to a local leader.

Addressing mediapersons, Ropar Improvement Trust Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Whisky and other party leaders Amarjit Singh Saini, Ashwani Sharma, Ashok Wahi, Gurinder Singh Billa and Pomi Soni claimed that the Congress had to lose last time due to an outsider candidate.

During the last Assembly elections, the Congress fielded Brinder Singh Dhillon from Ropar. Dhillon lost to AAP candidate Amarjit Singh Sandoa. He, however, claimed that Ropar district was his birthplace.

Whisky said the local people were not ready to accept any outsider as their representative. All local Congress workers would work tirelessly for the victory of any local candidate fielded by the party, he added. — TNS
