The first two-day International Sikh History Conference in association with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), under the auspices of Akal Takht dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, started at Mata Sahib Kaur Girls
College at Talwandi Sabo.
Prominent personalities and scholars, including Takht Jathdar Giani Harpreet Singh and SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, were present.
Talking about the purpose of the conference, Giani Harpreet Singh said the previous Sikh History Conference was held in 1964, after which an attempt was made to gather scholars of the panth under the auspices of Akal Takht today. In her address, Bibi Jagir Kaur said the gathering of scholars would prove to be beneficial for the nation. — TNS
