Abohar: The police on Wednesday arrested Mandeep Singh of Jammu Basti for ransacking a house and firing at its occupants. A case against him was registered on July 12 under Sections 325, 326 and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC. Balwinder Singh Gaggu and two other accused have already been arrested. It was alleged that over 10 armed persons had ransacked a house and opened fire at its occupants over a family dispute. oc

Faridkot: The Faridkot police have registered a criminal case under Sections 417, 419 and 420 (cheating and dishonesty) against two women for alleged impersonation during a recruitment test for the post of senior assistant at Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali. They have been identified as Priyanka of Sangrur and Sujata of Hisar district in Haryana. Sujata has been arrested. TNS
