9-hour power cut in Abohar

Abohar, October 5

After heavy rain, Nai Abadi and other adjoining areas here plunged into darkness at 4.30 pm yesterday. The power supply was restored at 1.45 am today.

PSPCL officials said a fault in the 220KV main grid led to the blackout. The areas were dependent on the 66KV grid station, which was upgraded at a cost of Rs 24.5 crore special grants from the Centre. Sources said substandard wires were used in 2016 and there was no check on quality even after 2017. They said the staff switched off the supply as and when it rained. — OC
