New Delhi, October 11

Congress general secretary and incharge of Punjab unit Harish Rawat today said there was no friction between Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and state party president Navjot Singh Sidhu and both would work together for the 2022 elections.

“The CM and Sidhu will both collaborate on everything. They will work in tandem for the next elections. The Congress president will then decide who will be the next CM,” said Rawat, who was in New Delhi today.

Asked about Sidhu’s resignation as the PCC chief, Rawat said, “What resignation? We have not seen any resignation. We have only read about it in the newspapers.”

Sidhu had on September 28 posted his resignation letter as Punjab Congress president on Twitter. Rawat today clearly indicated the resignation had not been accepted.

On the tension between the CM and Sidhu, Rawat said issues, if any, would be resolved within the party.

Downplaying Sidhu’s recent comments, he said there was no proposal to form any panel in Punjab for party and government coordination.
