The issues from the first day of the Telangana Assembly’s monsoon session on Monday, were raised in the House on Tuesday (September 8, 2026), which eventually led to adjournment of the proceedings on the second day.
The “unparliamentary” language allegedly used by a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislator against Telangana Assembly Speaker G. Prasad Kumar and the police “misbehaviour” against BRS women legislators on Monday, rocked the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Earlier, Hyderabad Police arrested BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy in connection with their alleged derogatory remarks against the Speaker. And, Saifabad Police Station registered a case against multiple BRS MLAs and MLCs, including Harish Rao, Sudheer Reddy, Kamalakar and Koushik Reddy over the incident. They were booked for allegedly violating Speaker’s dress-code order, abusing women police, removing shirts, pushing/manhandling cops and forcing entry.
Raising the ‘indecent’ behaviour of police against BRS women legislators, BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao raised placards in the Assembly on Tuesday demanding action against the police officials allegedly indulged in the incident. The Speaker tried to convince the members that the issue was being looked into and appropriate action would be initiated against the personnel responsible once the report was submitted.
Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu explained to the agitated members of BRS about the steps initiated to get a full report on the incident.
Mr. Harish Rao said that instead of initiating action against those guilty, the government has registered cases against MLAs P. Sabita Indra Reddy, Sunita Lakshma Reddy and Kova Lakshmi.
The Speaker who grew impatient with the sloganeering lashed out at the BRS members claiming: “I should be angry. Me and my mother have been abused, not you,” he told the BRS members.
The BRS Deputy Floor Leader rushed into the Well of the House and was stopped by the marshals from moving further even as he was joined by few other BRS legislators. The Speaker adjourned the proceedings as din prevailed in the House.
