YouTuber Rahul Easwar has approached the Kerala High Court seeking directions to remove the videos, which allegedly contains derogatory remarks about Ayyappa and Malikapurathamma, reportedly made by social activist and writer Sunny M. Kapikad, from social media. 

Mr. Easwar sought directions to the Keralam government, the police, and Meta to remove the videos, all corresponding URL links and digital copies. He also requested the registration of a criminal case against Mr. Kapikad. He also sought a direction to Meta and other social media platforms to either temporarily block, take down or disable public access to the video in question. 

Mr. Easwar contended that, through his remarks allegedly demeaning the deities, Mr. Kapikad committed the offences of attempting to promote disharmony between religious groups, making assertions that harm national integration, and deliberately outraging religious feelings under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. 

Justice G. Girish directed the State and the police authorities to respond to Mr. Easwar’s plea by September 10, 2026. The court also issued a notice to Mr. Kapikad and Meta.
