A fresh political clash has erupted between Congress and its ally, the National Conference, over the full rendition of Vande Mataram at the International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir in Srinagar. The complete six-stanza version of the national song was played at the event in the presence of Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and other party leaders. Congress has objected to the unabridged rendition and urged its allies to follow the established practice of singing the shorter version.
