Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Raj Kumar Verka
has issued directions to register a case against the accused in the post-matric scholarship scam.
Verka said the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab Government was committed to rooting out corruption and those involved in the scam would not be spared.
Verka said around 100 colleges were involved in the wrongdoing and more than Rs 100 crore recovery was pending against these.
He said the matter had been discussed by the Cabinet and the opinion of Advocate General had been received in this regard. The Supreme Court had asked for registration of a case for recovery of more than Rs 50 lakh. In this context, orders had been issued to register an FIR against those who cheated students. — TNS
