Muktsar: The police have booked some unidentified persons for allegedly blocking the entry and exit points of the bus stand here on Friday. Notably, contract employees of the Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC, demanding regularisation, had lodged a protest outside the bus stand. TNS

Jain body sends memo to CM

Abohar: The Vishwa Jain Sangathan that represents all four sects of Jains in India has told CM Charanjit Singh Channi that senior officials had so far not taken a decision on allowing restricted holidays on prime festivals of Jains. The sangathan has been demanding closure of slaughterhouses during Jain festivals and declaration of restricted holidays on Samvatsari and Anant Chaturdashi. OC

Tablets stolen from hospital

Muktsar: Some unidentified persons stole nearly 4,000 buprenorphine tablets from the Civil Hospital in Gidderbaha on Thursday. Notably, these tablets are administered to drug addicts in outpatient opioid-assisted treatment (OOAT) clinics. The Gidderbaha police have registered a case against unidentified persons. TNS
