There seems to be no end to smuggling of drugs into Punjab as the police seized 275-kg poppy husk from a vehicle near Manaksar village here.
Suratgarh police sub-inspector Om Parkash Mann said the vehicle had collided with a truck and was found damaged. Two mobile phones of suspected smugglers were found in the vehicle. The driver of the truck, who was injured in the accident, had been admitted to a hospital. The police said 14 plastic bags with 275-kg poppy husk were seized.
Earlier, the police had seized 65 bags with 1,300-kg poppy husk and 4.4-kg opium from a truck. Truck driver Mukhtiar Singh of Tarn Taran was arrested and booked under the NDPS Act. — OC
