Three killed in road accident

Tarn Taran, December 24

The poor condition of a road coupled with alleged harassment at the hands of an audit officer claimed lives of three bank officials in a car accident near Kale Bridge on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as branch manager Jasbir Singh (40), a resident of Jujhar Avenue in Amritsar, Baljit Kaur (30), a resident of Patti and Sanmeet Kaur (25), a resident of Sultanwind. The trio were heading towards office when their car collided with a tree. Assistant manager Gurwinder Singh told the police that an audit officer was allegedly harassing the staff since the auditing process was on. Gurwinder alleged that Jasbir was under pressure due to the threats being issued by an audit officer. As he reached near Kale Bridge, he apparently lost the control over the car and the vehicle collided with a tree.

The police handed over the bodies of the deceased to their family members after the post-mortem. — OC
