Chandigarh, January 6
Punjab has received Rs 840.08 crore as revenue deficit grant from the Centre today. The state is among 17 states to have received this grant.
To date, the state has received Rs 8,400.83 crore as revenue deficit grant from the Centre during the ongoing financial year.
An official release said the grant of Rs 9,871 crore has been released to 17 states today. This was the 10th instalment of the post devolution revenue deficit grant released to the states. So far, an amount of Rs 98,710 crore has been released to eligible states in the current financial year.
The grants are provided under Article 275 as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission to meet the gap in revenue accounts of the states post devolution.
