Chandigarh, June 3
Sri Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has declined to accept the Z security offered by the Union government. In a message, he thanked the Centre for offering him Z security, but said that the decision should be withdrawn.
“Z security may create hindrance in my working. I want to request the Indian government to roll back the decision so that I can roam freely among the Sikh sangat and meet them without any obstruction. I thank the Union government for the decision.”

Recently, the Punjab government had withdrawn half of the security cover of the Jathedar. It had elicited an angry response from the Jathedar, who volunteered to return the remaining officials as well.
