Dubai-based NRI shot; wife, paramour among 3 arrested

A Dubai-based NRI, identified as Harinder Singh, was shot by armed assailants at Ghanupur Kale village in Chheharta when he along with his family was going to pay obeisance at Golden Temple early on Sunday.

Illicit relations

According to the police, the murder was the outcome of illicit relations of victim’s wife Satnam Kaur with her paramour Arshdeep Singh of Kale village.

The police said Satnam Kaur had development illicit relations with Arshdeep and they allegedly hired an assassin. The police have arrested Satnam along with Arshdeep, besides Varinder Singh, one of the assassins, of Goindwal Sahib.

Harinder had been living in Dubai for the past 12 years and had returned around two weeks ago.

Earlier, Satnam had stated to the police she along with Harinder and their two children were going to pay obeisance at Golden Temple on a bike around 3.30 am when two bike-borne men pushed their motorcycle near Dashmesh Gun house in Harkrishan Nagar area.

As they fell to the ground, one of the accused shot Harinder and snatched his mobiles and purse before fleeing the scene, she had claimed. Harinder called up her family and Satnam was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh said during probe, it was found Harinder’s murder was planned by his wife Satnam who had developed illicit relations with Arshdeep in his absence.

He said when Harinder returned, he found this out and started keeping an eye on her. Satnam and Arshdeep allegedly hired Varinder for Rs 2.7 lakh for the killing, claimed the police officer.
