The police on Tuesday recovered a mobile phone and five sim cards from a gangster lodged in Bathinda central jail.

Sub-Inspector Karamjit Singh said, “In his statement, jail superintendent Bhupinder Singh stated that as part of an inspection drive, the police recovered a mobile phone and five sim cards from gangster Rajveer Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur district. We have registered a case against him.”

The case against the gangster was registered at the Cantt police station.

Notably, after the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala, the security at the Bathinda central jail was beefed-up.

Earlier on June 21, an FIR was registered against gangster Saraj Mintoo for uploading a post on Sidhu Moosewala from Bathinda jail.

A video had surfaced on a social media account reportedly used by Moosewala’s murder co-accused Saraj Mintoo, claiming that police would not be able to catch the singer’s assailants.
