Ludhiana, July 8
The court of Judicial Magistrate Harsimranjit Kaur has attached the property of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) chief and former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains in a rape case.
The property of another accused Paramjit Singh Bains has also been attached. He was declared a proclaimed offender along with seven other accused on April 12.
His bail plea was dismissed by the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma the same day. When he did not get relief from the Supreme Court, the local police started raiding the possible hideouts of the accused.
The FIR was registered in July 2021, while the chargesheet was filed in December 2021. At that time, none of the accused was arrested. Recently, the police arrested Karamjit Singh and property dealer Sukhchain Singh. They are in judicial custody. — TNS
