Bathinda, July 8

Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Puri, visited Bathinda today and held closed-door meetings with local BJP leaders and party workers.

He reached at Lake View guest house, where after receiving guard of honour from Punjab Police personnel, he addressed a meeting of party workers. He, however, did not interact with the media and chose to remain tight-lipped about the purpose of his visit.

Later, he visited the Qila Mubarak gurdwara. He held another meeting with party leaders and workers from the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency at SSD Girls College. He addressed party workers who had come from different Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Bathinda and Mansa.

Sources in the party say party workers have been told to start preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. Puri would stay put in the city for two days and likely to hold more meetings with party workers. They have been told to mobilise support by working at ground level with focus on improving party’s base in rural areas of the region, said sources.
