Ferozepur: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has arrested two persons and seized an Italy-made pistol with two rounds, besides a country-made weapon (.32 bore) along with a magazine and two rounds from them. SSP Charanjit Singh said after receiving inputs, the police signalled the suspects to stop their SUV. However, the duo tried to mow down Constable Ranjit Singh. The constable fired three shots on the left tyre of their vehicle. As the tyre got punctured, they duo was nabbed,” said the SSP. He said during an inspection of the SUV, they found arms and ammunition. oc
4 cellphones seized from jail
Ferozepur: The authorities have recovered four cellphones, two mobile chargers and a data cable from the central jail. Jail officials found two packets near barrack number three. When cops opened the packets, they found two mobile phones (touchscreen) and two keypad cellphones along with a charger, adapter and a data cable. A case under Sections 42-A of the Prisons Act has been registered against unidentified persons. OC
Two electrocuted
Abohar: Two persons got electrocuted after their motorcycle rammed into the electricity pole. The deceased have been identified as Anil Nayak and his sister-in-law Manisha of Guru Nanak Basti. The vicitm’s second sister-in-law (Rajbala) had a narrow escape in the incident.
