Faridkot, July 16
Three miscreants allegedly held a woman and her maid hostage at her house in New Cantonment Road here and took away Rs 16 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh in a broad daylight on Saturday.
The accused allegedly overpowered the woman and her maid after attacking them with sharp-edged weapons.
The woman told the police that the miscreants claimed to be the employees of an internet service provider and entered the house forcibly. They were armed with a revolver and sharp weapons, alleged the complainant.
Kulbhushan Jain, the owner of the house, said, “The miscreants stayed in the house for an hour and searched for valuables.”
Jain runs a chemist shop and said he had kept Rs 15 lakh to make a payment for a property deal.
SSP Avneet Kaur said they were scanning CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify the miscreants.
