Cross-voting in Presidential poll

Chandigarh, July 22

There seems to have been some cross-voting for the Presidential election held earlier this week. A perusal of the results from the state shows that against five votes, two each of SAD and the BJP and one of the BSP, which went in favour of Droupadi Murmu, she got a total of eight votes. As many as 114 votes were polled by the MLAs on July 18, of which five were declared invalid. Of the remaining votes, 101 were polled in favour of Yashwant Sinha, who was backed by both the ruling AAP and the Congress. — TNS
