Abohar, July 25
Upset over crop loss due to a breach in a sub-canal, a farmer at Gaddandob village reportedly ended his life by consuming poison today.
Before ending his life, the farmer, Niranjan Singh, also made a video. In the clip, he alleged that some residents of Rani Wala village in Muktsar had breached a sub-canal due to which crops spread over 400 acres in Gaddandob had been submerged.
Niranjan alleged that officials visited the village, but neither a case was filed against the erring persons, nor sincere efforts were made to drain water.
