66K doses procured to counter LSD: Minister

Chandigarh, August 7

To protect livestock of the state from the contagious lumpy skin disease (LSD), the state government has received 66,666 doses of goatpox vaccine, which will be administered free of cost to healthy livestock to check the spread of the disease.

Laljit Singh Bhullar, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development said this during his visit of the Khemkaran Assembly segment on Sunday.

The minister said the vaccine was procured from Hyderabad and had been sent to all districts of the state and the doctors had started administering the vaccine.

“The government has released Rs 76 lakh so far and veterinary officers from the headquarters have also been deputed in the districts to help the field staff,” he said.
