New Delhi, July 18
Three AAP members from Punjab including cricketer-turned-politician Harbhajan Singh took oath as Rajya Sabha MPs here on Monday. Besides, noted lawyer Kapil Sibal, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla and Congress leader P Chidambram were also among 28 leaders who took oath as members of the upper house.
Other AAP leaders, who took parliamentary oath from Punjab alongside Harbhajan Singh, were Sandeep Kumar Pathak and Vikramjit Singh Sahney. Congress leader Randeep Singh Syrjewala, who has been elected to the House from Rajasthan, also took oath amid thumping of desks by fellow members.
Sibal, who took oath today, has been elected from Uttar Pradesh as an Independent with the support of Samajwadi Party.
Others who took oath included Misa Bharti, A Rao Meena, Vijay Sai Reddy, Kheeru Mahto, Shambhala Saran Patel, Ranjeet Ranjan, Maharashtra Majhi, Aditya Prasad, Praful Patel, Imran Pratapgarhi, Sanjay Raut and Sasmit Patra.
R Girl Rajan, S Kalyan Sundaram, KRN Rajesh Kumar, Javed Ali Khan, V Vijendra Prasad were others among those who took the oath today.
Meanwhile, renowned former athlete PT Usha (from Kerala) and legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja (from Tamil Nadu) could not be present in the Rajya Sabha to take the oath due to some reasons.
