Abohar: 960 kg of poppy husk seized

Abohar: The District Special Team seized 960 kg poppy husk by intercepting a truck on Naylakhi-Pallu Road in Hanumangarh. The suspects have been identified as Ashok, alias Shaunki Mahajan, and Kamaljit Singh, alias Kuldeep. Sub-Inspector Lakhbir Singh said 49 plastic bags of poppy husk were found hidden inside empty plastic containers in the truck. The duo was produced before the court, which sent them to police custody. OC

Doctor attacked at clinic

Anandpur: A doctor was allegedly attacked at his clinic on Tuesday evening. The victim, Dr Achhar Sharma, is also a chief of Ropar Youth Congress. Dr Sharma said he was examining a patient when the accused along with a woman entered the clinic and started misbehaving with him. When I objected, they attacked me, he alleged. Seven-year-old sodomised

Moga: A 7-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised at Sukhanand village in Baghapurana. Paramjit Kaur, mother of the victim, told the police that Gurnoor Singh lured the child on the pretext of helping him to drive a bicycle and took him to a grain market where he performed unnatural sex with him. Gurnoor has been booked under Section 377 of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act, 2012. TNS

31-year-old woman raped

Moga: A 31-year-old divorced woman was allegedly raped by a Muktsar resident for eight years on the pretext of marriage. The victim told the police that she met Gursewak of Khoonan Khur village (Muktsar) in 2014. “Gursewak developed physical relations on the pretext of marrying me,” alleged the complainant. A case has been registered against Gursewak. TNS

Missing man’s body found

Abohar: The body of a missing man was found at a tail end of H-minor on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Harbhajan Singh of Mammukhera village. He had been missing from the past four days. The family of the victim said he under stress.
