On the concluding day of the Budget session, Congress MLA from Chabbewal Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal alleged the advertisement to fill 178 posts of law officer in the office of Advocate General violated the SC Act. He said Section 4(2) of the SC Act provided for 25 per cent reservation to SCs and 12 per cent to BCs. He further said he wrote several letters to the CM and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to take notice of this and initiate corrective action.
Coordinated floor strategy missing
Amid the largely smooth conduct of the proceedings of the six-day-long session, it was individual performance of a few Congress MLAs that stood out. A coordinated floor strategy of the Opposition party was missing. Being the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Partap Singh Bajwa took the lead in raising issues, followed by Pargat Singh, Junior Avtar Henry and Sukhpal Singh Khaira. The CLP leader ensured that there were least walkouts.
