A day after the Congress inducted Malvika Sood, sister of Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, into the party fold, sitting party MLA Dr Harjot Kamal met Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi here today.
The MLA reached here with a large number of supporters, including sarpanches, block samiti members, Mayor and councillors. He opposed the grant of ticket to Malvika, claiming that she could not match his working. “I have strengthened the party in the last few years,” he said.
The CM said the party high command would look into the “winnability criteria” of the candidate before finalising the list.
MLA Kamal said, “I will put up my case before the party high command strongly to get a renomination from Moga.”
Sources said party policy makers offered him a ticket from Amargarh in Sangrur district but he was reluctant to take that offer. —
