Chamkaur Sahib, June 19

It was a harrowing time for the police when a 30-year-old man climbed an 11-KV power electricity pole today alleging police inaction on his complaint. Fortunately, the Power Department employees cut off the electricity supply to the pole before he could reach the top.

According to information, Jaspal, a local resident, reached the police station seeking arrest of his brother Ashwani and some other relatives alleging that they had thrashed him on Saturday night. The police called his brother to the police station, however, he insisted on arrest of the suspects immediately.

When the police failed to do so, Jaspal went outside and climbed an electricity pole near the police station. Soon the cops, including SHO Rupinder Singh, present at the police station rushed at the spot.

The other suspects were also brought to the spot by the police following which Jaspal agreed to come down. The SHO said no case had been registered against Jaspal as he and his relatives reached a compromise.
