Taking prompt cognisance of the Centre’s letter regarding postponement of paddy procurement, CM Charanjit Singh Channi today sought the personal intervention of PM Narendra Modi to advise the Ministry to withdraw its letter forthwith, allowing the state to start procurement from October 1.
Will cause resentment

The CM said the new instructions would unnecessarily create confusion and uncertainty in the minds of farmers. He said Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu had already reviewed the arrangements for procurement. Channi also mentioned that he had personally reviewed the preparedness for procurement yesterday to ensure smooth and hassle-free purchase and was satisfied with the arrangements. — TNS
