BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said here on Saturday that after failing to perform and deliver in the last four-and-a-half-years the Congress in Punjab is licking the dust to revive itself.
Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma termed Amarinder Singh’s resignation as the “final nail in the coffin” of the Congress.
In a statement, Chugh said the manner in which a panic meeting of the CLP was summoned reflected adequately the panic and confusion in the party.
“Replacing the Congress chief minister is a panic reaction of the Congress high command to salvage the party situation after it failed to deliver in the last more than four and a half years, ” he said.
Chugh said the Congress would be decimated in the forthcoming Assembly elections and no fire fighting of any kind can help it.
He said the Congress had admitted its complete failure in all fronts. The mafia raj of the Congress in Punjab would prove to be the last nail in its coffin in Punjab, he added.
Ashwani Sharma said the constant bickering between Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu and Capt Amarinder Singh since Sidhu took over as Party chief in the state has led to these events. “However, Sidhu is a non-performing politician who believes in theatre than in governance.”
“The central leadership first forced a humiliating exit of Sunil Jhakkar by appointing Sidhu and now has sacrificed Capt Amarinder Singh. Their entire endeavour is to mislead people in the soon to be held assembly elections but Punjabis are astute and know that Congress has miserably failed to govern the state,” Ashwani Sharma said.
