Amritsar Rural Police seized 16 kg heroin from Madhopur on Thursday morning.
The drug consignment was being brought by an Amritsar resident from Jammu and Kashmir.
The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act at Kathunangal police station here.
The police are questioning the drug peddler at Madhopur.
The suspect is a taxi driver and was coming in a white Innova when he was intercepted at Madhopur following a tip-off.
The police were apprehensive that he might hide the contraband before reaching Amritsar; therefore, the naka was laid at Madhopur.
