Jalandhar, May 30
An Assistant Sub-Inspector posted in Jalandhar reportedly committed suicide in the wee hours on Monday in Garha locality by shooting himself with his service revolver.
Deceased Swaran Singh was posted as a driver with Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) and had just set out from his place for his home in Sheikhe village past midnight when he reportedly killed himself.
Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner of Police Jamohan Singh termed the incident unfortunate and said it seemed to be a clear case of suicide as shots had been fired from his service weapon.
He said that an inquiry was being conducted to examine under what circumstances he resorted to the extreme step.
