Bathinda: Don’t use Sidhu Moosewala’s name for political motive, says family

Bathinda, June 14

Slain Punjab singer Sidhu Moosewala’s family today appealed to all political parties and individuals on social media to not use the late singer’s name for any political or personal motives.

The appeal was posted on Sidhu Moosewala’s Instagram account.

This comes as a setback for the Congress, which intended to seek sympathy votes in the June 23 Sangur Lok Sabha bypolls.

A few days ago, Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring had released an election song featuring Moosewala.

The Congress has been cornering the AAP government over the law and order situation ever since Moosewala was shot dead on May 29.

His killing came a day after the Bhagwant Mann government had pruned his security along with many other VIPs. The Congress wants to take the matter to the poll battle field.

Meanwhile, the AAP has slammed the Congress for using pictures of Moosewala in the election song.

Its bypoll candidate Gurmail Singh has accused the Congress of politicising Moosewala’s killing to seek sympathy votes.

“A mother has lost his son, but it is appalling that the Congress is trying to get mileage from his death in the elections. It should refrain from hurting the sentiments of family and fans,” Singh said during his campaigning.

Moosewala had joined the Congress ahead of the 2022 Vidhan Sabha polls.
