The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has lodged a complaint with the Amritsar police against standup comedian Bharti Singh, who had allegedly passed objectionable remarks on those sporting beard and moustaches in one of her old videos.
SGPC official alleged that the comedian remarks have hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
On the other hand, Bharti Singh, through a video message on social media, has apologised for her comments. In a video shared by her, Bharti acknowledged that her language has been misinterpreted and misunderstood. She said her remarks had no connection to the Sikh community. Bharti said she was proud to be a Punjabi and it was not her intention to hurt the sentiments of any religion.
